The burglary safe is to be built into a wall or it is flush-mountable, i.e. it is not a free standing version.
The built-in safe forms part of the wall, its front side does not protrude from the plane of the wall (flush).
You also have to distinguish burgalry or euro grade safes based on whether these are wall mountable or free standing versions.
It is worth to choose a wall safe, if you would like to place it in a building being planned, constructed or under reconstruction. Since installation of a wall safe is more work-intensive and more expensive and it also entails more dirt than that of a furniture (free standing) safe, the installation is more prcatical in such circumstances.
On one hand, the hole required by the wall mountable safe can be left out from the wall already, thus saving the brick and concrete as well as the money and time required for the subsequent demolition. On the other hand, it will also not be neccessary to repaint the wall after the retrofit.
A wall safe is a fortunate choice if you are planning long term, or you do not want to build the safe into the wall in rented premises.
In case the house or the wall, where you would like to put the safe, is not just being built, but you still prefer a wall safe, you have to take the noise, work and cost associated with the subsequent demolition.
The structure of wall safes is different from the design of free standing value storage cabinets. Their characteristic element is the front panel and back wall extending beyond the plane of the safe body. The protruding rear plate of a wall safe also serves as a gaff-flange against pull out attempts form the wall.
In case of a wall safe, the front side is of standard, strengthened construction, its sides and back are however typically made of a simple steel plate without any reinforcement. Apart from the front side there is no need of a resilient surface because the protection is provided by the conrete and the part of the wall around the safe itself. The function of the relatively thin side and back plates is narrowed down to merely serve as a separation between the wall and the interior of the safe.
The front part of the safe and the safe door contains the bolt structure and the safe lock. The thickness of the front plate is way bigger. Thanks to this, the special alloy used and the design, the safe is difficult to attack from the front.
